As soon as I saw @andrea_michelle_92 living room, with is big windows and velvet curtains, I knew we had to capture pictures of play happening in it. Beauty and functionality collided in such a lovely, but “lived in” space. In-home sessions are so special because they capture your life as you know it. Whether it’s elegant or farmhouse or just plain and cozy, your people…the ones you love… are what make it home. What a glorious weekend for an outdoor wedding in Maine. @derek__cassel and @martyjo44 wedding celebration was a weekend event from a fun, African meal on Friday to finishing it off with worship and lunch on Sunday…and of course there was the wedding in between all that on Saturday. Earlier in the week it was looking strongly of rain, but the Lord surprised us with a gorgeous wedding day on Saturday. Derek and Martha both shine bright with love for each other and the joy of the Lord bubbles out of them. What a delight it was to photograph their day. So thankful I could work with the talented @heartof.grace.photography Together we were able to capture the beauty, love and joy of this day. I couldn’t have done it without her!

She's here! And we are all so delighted to meet her. Big congratulations @tsfahnestock and @lgfahnestock ❤️❤️❤️ I once read the following quote- “A baby’s presence brings a sense of purpose to everyone around.” There is certainly some truth to it. Suddenly you are living not only for yourself, because the needs of a baby require love and sacrifice. In my own life, becoming a parent started me on a lifelong journey of becoming more like Jesus. In my selfish moments I fight it! But God is so gracious and forgiving. I’ve learned my children are so forgiving as well, I’ve had to apologize many times and I expect there are more time to come. Together, we continue on, learning how to love and respect each other. Having children gives me a small glimpse of God’s unconditional love for me. In my humanness I cannot fully understand his love because his is pure and untainted with sin, whereas I still sin in my love. Read the love chapter and it’s clear that we humans will mess it up, but God never does! I'm thankful that the Lord has used my children to teach me about him and to exposed areas of needed growth…and will continue to teach me! Children not only help sanctify us, but they also bring so much joy! And as they grow, they become our friends. They are "our people" for life. More than once my family has been on the receiving end of big generosity! It’s amazing what God’s children will do for each other. We’ve been sent on paid weekends away, given fresh cut and packaged sweet corn, given meat for our freezer, and the list goes on. We can never pay these dear folks back, too many and so much generosity. But we always pray God to bless them in ways we cannot. 🙏❤️ I say all that to say this, it’s really fun thing to be able to “gift” a photo sessions every now and then. These dear friends not only just had another sweet little soul enter their home, but they also agreed to take on the role of shepherding our church family as our newest minister. We are so thankful for their love of God and their love for our church family. Being able to gift them this newborn session blessed me more than it blessed them. No, I think not. ❤️❤️❤️ Funny thing about my new online booking site, I don’t always put faces to the names since I’m not doing email dialogue with my clients so much anymore. When I saw “Melissa” on my schedule, it didn’t register that it was my cousin’s daughter. When she showed up with her darling family, I was delighted! I had a surprised reaction of “Oh! It’s THAT Melissa!!” It was like a mini family reunion. ❤️ So very glad…it was a blast having them in front of my camera.

The life within the kitchen. ❤️ A year ago my beautiful friend allowed me to do a styled shoot in her new kitchen. Her kitchen is beautiful, and yes, the outfits were intentionally in color scheme by my request. But what really made this so fun was the love within this home! I enjoyed giving direction, and then stepping back to photographing the natural interactions of laughter and delight that happened on their own. ❤️👏 It is a blessing to have friends who love Jesus, their spouse, and their children.❤️ Also, if you’re ever on the fence about doing a casual dressed, in-home session, just to document the season of life that you’re in…don’t delay! I would love to come into your home and snap some photos of you baking cookies with your children, reading books to them, having tickle fights and pillow fights. It’s all so fun. Welcome to “snuggle season”… aka: winter nights. •Reading books together •Playing board games •Breaking out the puzzles •Rollerblading in the basement •Burning off extra energy by playing chase around the table •Bundling up for jumping on the trampoline It could also be called “sanctification season”! 😅😅😅 It’s the hard season of all nine of us being in the house, which means more temptation for all of us to become fussers. Having a list of “what is there to do” helps when temptation is knocking hard on the heart’s door. Each season has its woes and delights. As moms we help to set the atmosphere of our home. We can admit the hard (not suggesting we stuff it) and then give it to Jesus. Our future is not hidden from you Lord, that is a comfort…🙏❤️ It’s God’s kindness that he does not reveal to us all the hardships and delights that our future holds. We don’t have “the grace needed” now that we will be given then. We know, God’s grace will be given when we are in the midst of the hardship. If I had been told, when I got married, that I would birth two babies, miscarry our third child, and then be diagnosed with secondary infertility at age 29 and have a hysterectomy by age 36… that would have sunk me into a depression. The weight would have been too heavy to carry. But God in his kindness revealed each burden in his perfect timing and allowed life to come from those places of what felt like death. I wouldn’t change that story he wrote because it changed me from a fearful person who “believed” in God to be true, into a trusting heart that has experienced God and now loves him. Yes, I still have fearful thoughts but now I know where to go with them. I can lay them at Jesus feet in exchange for his words of life. (The more I read the Word, the stronger my faith becomes. His words of life are before me daily.) He is so kind. Pain is an opportunity for bitterness or a doorway into a deeper knowing of Jesus Christ as our comforter. We don’t know the future, we don’t have God’s grace now for the future hardships. But what we do have now is faith…and trust. ❤️ We believe his word to be true. He says that He will be with us and that He holds us in his hands (John 20:22-30). There is nothing to fear when we are His. (Psalm 27:1) This is how we can turn our faces towards another unknown year of joys and sorrows, knowing our Good Shepherd will lead us. We are like a child being lead by our loving Father. With our hand in his, we can go where he leads us. He’s got us. It’s with joyful anticipation that we look to what is ahead. John 16:31-33 . . #newyear #encouragement #jesuswins

Christianity is not an invitation to be a moral…instead it’s an invitation for LIFE- taken from Captivating Core @wildatheart Its daily walking with Jesus, Father God and the Holy Spirit- through Bible reading, prayer, worship and listening for his voice. As we seek him, we will see his pursuit of our hearts. Such delight! Life in Christ is what gives us life, joy, and hope in the peaceful moments as well as in the chaos. Ladies we cannot only survive this Christmas season, but with Jesus’ presence, we can thrive! Your life looks different than mine, my story is different than yours. This is not about comparing ourselves to one another but rather looking to Jesus and asking him to show us the way. For some it means kicking things into gear a little more, for others it means slowing things down. It’s SITUATIONAL- but that’s the beauty of asking Jesus what he wants this Christmas season to look like for you and your family. He’s faithful to speak if we are seeking. And his words bring us life in abundance. This isn’t about moral obligation but rather obedience to Jesus and the promptings of the Holy Spirit. His spirit never contradicts his Holy Word, that’s our filter. “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” - John 10:10 As we celebrate the birth of our savior- the idea of new life, life-giving sacrifice, eternal life…these themes run deep at Christmas- May we also be reminded of God’s extravagant love to us and the abundant life of hope, joy, and peace that is offered to those who love him. ❤️ . #captivatingcore #wildatheart #abundantlife #joyinjesus

This is a time of thankfulness, celebration and joy. But it quickly can become overwhelming and discouraging. Holidays are also a time for lots of disappointments to be felt as there are expectations that go unmet. In those moments of overwhelm and disappointment, having our hearts turned to the father in prayer is what sustain us and help us to be joyful despite the chaos that threatens us. Be alert mommas, the enemy will try to steal our joy. Especially as we are making effort to turn our children’s hearts towards the joy and delight of this season where we intentionally remember the extravagant love and sacrifice of our Savior. The contrast of a man with his little baby. It speaks to the strength of a father. A father’s strength. It is to be feared by the enemy and brings security to the children. It protects and provides. When the father’s strength is submitted to, and encouraged by, a relationship with Jesus…that strength is as it should be. It becomes a reflection of our Heavenly Father. It’s true, Fathers will never do it perfectly on this side of heaven. But what a blessing it is to the family and world around him, when a father is invested in walking in step with the Spirit. I arrived on site to a brilliantly bright setting sun …and a looming, dark rain cloud that was coming in fast. We got one photo in and it suddenly down-poured!!! We dashed into a barn for shelter and watched the rain. Meanwhile the sun still blazed on and I desperately wanted to be out shooting in its light. Finally, after about 10-15 minutes the rain clouds cleared, but dusk had officially set in. Thankfully these dear hearts were super flexible and we still got some lovely images. It felt like the last, late night hoorah, of golden summer glow. ❤️

There is something so fun about photographing returning clients, they become your friend. This family has been a delight and especially this year with the addition of sweet Jirah! It is so fun to watch families grow. 🥰 We embraced the cloudy, chilly, fall-like day for their woodland session. Their choice of blacks, creams, orange and blues matched the day perfectly! #fallvibes🍁

Living on a strawberry farm might not be all fun and games…but it certainly was during this session! From “chicken fights” to ring-around-the-Rosie, it was a party with all these children! I felt so sentimental taking photos of this family, enjoying each others presence here on their farm. It is the place were working together and loving each other, collide. Not only was it a delight to walk the farm with them, but I also enjoyed taste testing their strawberries- absolutely delicious! I never knew you could grow such sweet tasting strawberries into the fall months. 🙌 #strawberryfarm #largefamilylife
